Restoration of the San Román bridge-aqueduct in Torremocha de Jarama
It was part of the Cabarrús Canal, at the end of the XNUMXth century
The San Román bridge is located within the complex of buildings and facilities that were part of the Cabarrús Canal, a large construction company of the Count of Cabarrús at the end of the s. XVIII. Among these constructions can be found today, apart from the partial layout of the old canal, the remains of pontoons, aqueducts, dams, mills, guard and storage houses, and the trade house.
The case in question is one of the only two aqueducts left. The term aqueduct comes from the fact that the canal was carried on its deck. In addition, it should be noted that the San Román Stream passes under its vault, a key point in the history of the Vega de Uceda and the route of the Cabarrús Canal.

restoration project
A road currently runs over the deck of the bridge, essential for the agricultural activities of the town. The bridge as a whole has been structurally revised, its structure has been reinforced and the parts that had ceded have been reintegrated. On the other hand, the remains of the aqueduct found on its panel have been documented and protected.
