Call for applications from March 4, 2025
It has been published call of general oppositions for translators, legal experts, linguists/legal experts, reviewers (AD 7) in the Official Journal of the European Union (OJEU C) of 4 March 2025:

Planning for 2025
The European Personnel Selection Office (EPSO) has announced its planning for 2025. Minor changes, including additional competitions, may be introduced in the future depending on the needs of the EU institutions and bodies that the office serves.
January 15
Publication of a competitive examination for administrators in the field of taxation (grade AD6). The competition will cover two areas:
- Direct taxation (including tax law)
- Indirect taxation (including tax law)
Interested candidates may only apply for one of the areas.
4 March
Publication of a competition for lawyer-linguists (grade AD7) for the European Parliament, the Council of the EU or the European Commission, which will include eight languages: Danish (DA), German (DE), English (EN), Estonian (ET), Croatian (HR), Dutch (NL), Romanian (RO) and Slovenian (SL).
Interested candidates may only apply in one of the languages.

Publication of a competition for lawyer-linguists (grade AD7) for the Court of Justice of the EU, which will include eight languages: Czech (CS), Danish (DA), Estonian (ET), Finnish (FI), French (FR), Italian (IT), Latvian (LV) and Swedish (SV).

Publication of a competitive examination for construction specialists (grade AD7). The competition will cover three areas:
- Project management in the construction sector
- Architecture
- Construction Services Engineering
Interested candidates may only apply for one of the areas.
A vacancy will also be published for assistants in the field of communication (AST3 grade).

Publication of a competition for general administrators (grade AD5).

Publication of a competitive examination for secretaries (AST/SC1 grade)
Written test
The selection processes of the European Personnel Selection Office that will be published from 2024 will allow candidates to take all their tests in any of the 24 official EU languages.
On the occasion of its move towards a complete linguistic regime of 24 languages, the aforementioned office is going to introduce a new type of test in its selection processes from 2024: the written test, intended to evaluate the written communication skills of the candidates. candidate people. This test will replace the practical case, which will continue to be used in some ongoing competitions.
Types of exercises
This test includes three different types of exercises that the European Personnel Selection Office will use depending on the needs expressed by the recruitment services for each competition:
- A written test (WT) related to the field or fields of the opposition, which evaluates only written communication skills.
- A specific field-related written test (FRWT), which assesses written communication skills and knowledge in the field of the competition.
- A free essay on EU-related issues (EUFTE), which tests written communication skills only.
To carry out the exercise, candidates must rely on the documentation provided by the European Personnel Selection Office in relation to the specific area or areas of the competition, as indicated in the competition notice.
Written test anchors
The written test is not a linguistic test. Candidates will be evaluated on the basis of “anchors” (elements that test takers take into account when evaluating a given competency), which are listed below:
- Write concisely, without using unnecessary words or phrases
- Present the issue in an understandable way
- Adapt your wording depending on the recipients and the intended purpose
- Use the information provided to perform the exercise
- Structure written communication so that it reflects a logical chain of ideas

Podcast “A look at careers in the EU”
The European Personnel Selection Office (EPSO) has just published a podcast series entitled “A look at careers in the EU”. The idea behind this six-episode series was to allow EU staff to talk and share how they started working for the Union, what it has been like so far and to bring more personal aspects of their lives to a wider audience. The series illustrates, for example, the diversity of the EU civil service in terms of nationality, gender, age, language, race and job profile.

EPSO Test Support Service for the Community of Madrid
The Community of Madrid offers citizens of Madrid support for preparing for the selection tests of the European Personnel Selection Office (EPSO) on an ongoing basis for the pre-selection phase (Computer Based Tests) for the Administrators (AD) and Assistants (AST) function groups, as well as for calls for Contract Agents (CAST) and European bodies whose selection processes include comparable tests.
This service consists of providing users with a package of questions for preparing for the aforementioned selection processes on an online training platform. Users will receive an access code to the platform that will allow them to take different verbal, numerical and abstract reasoning tests, depending on the call for applications.

The Community of Madrid periodically organizes information days for the general public on ways to access employment in European institutions, mostly in collaboration with Madrid universities, and in other cases with the collaboration of training companies. Information about upcoming sessions will be published on this website.
These sessions are aimed at university students, the unemployed and all those citizens interested in participating in selective processes of the various institutions of the European Union.
In some cases, representatives of the European Personnel Selection Office, the Permanent Representation of Spain to the EU, recently admitted EU officials and the Ambassador on Special Mission for relations with EU Institutions intervene, reporting on the different selection processes that are carried out to fill positions.
