Community Education Plan of the Community of Madrid
Comprehensive education and awareness program for citizens about their cultural heritage
What is the Heritage Education Plan?
The Community of Madrid has an extensive set of cultural assets that speak of our history, shape our identity and define us as a community. The citizen's identification with this heritage is essential for the transmission of the cultural values inherent to it, because he who knows its heritage can respect, preserve and transmit it.
The Heritage Education Plan is born from the desire of the Community of Madrid to commit to heritage education as an integrated strategy to raise citizens' awareness of their cultural heritage.
Preparation of the Plan, a pioneer at a national level, and its launch in 2019, has had the collaboration of public administrations with competencies in culture, with the educational community and with specialists in the field. Its references are both the National Education and Heritage Plan and the Framework Convention of the Council of Europe on the Value of Cultural Heritage for Society (Faro, 2005).
