Restoration of the Valmores fountain in Pezuela de las Torres

The town of Pezuela de las Torres is located in the region of the southeastern moors of the Community of Madrid, a territory characterized by its wide cereal plains, divided by some ravines and gentle valleys, as well as by an important network of roads and tracks. livestock adapted to the small irregularities of the relief.
The Valmores fountain, an Asset of Heritage Interest of the Community of Madrid, is a good example of the historical sources existing in the region, closely linked to livestock farming and the livestock routes that facilitated the movement of herds through the territory. It is attached to the base of a bank, a wide unproductive slope that links dry fields arranged at different levels, and preserves the original catchment system intact, maintaining an acceptable flow.

The exact date of construction of the Valmores Fountain is unknown, although it is probably from the 1578th century since there is a description of it in the Topographical Relations of 1735. It is later known that in XNUMX it was the subject of some repair works.
The age of the fountain, its dimensions, as well as the beauty of the surrounding landscape, are elements of great value. It also highlights its intangible value associated with uses that have developed throughout history such as the treatment between animals and humans, or being a "recreation place for the townspeople who sometimes go there on tours or snacks.
The intervention has sought to ensure the watertightness of the fountain glass and the correct channeling of the water, the elimination of additions or negative modifications and the restoration of the existing elements through their partial restitution, replacement and reintegration, replacing a single damaged ashlar in the area. of the current water outlet. Furthermore, the intervention has led to the improvement of its landscape image.
