Madrid Rutas del Toro
Live a unique experience and get to know the Madrid countryside through bullfighting bullfights in the region.
Madrid Rutas del Toro is an initiative that aims to promote knowledge of the fighting bull in its natural habitat, the Madrid meadow, in which the animals are raised in freedom with minimal human presence.
Livestock bull breeding is a traditional activity that contributes to the conservation of ecosystems and the increase of biodiversity, as well as to fix the population in rural areas.
You can visit 14 herds, some of which are among the main fighting bulls in the country. Apart from being able to admire the bulls up close, if you opt for this different and ecological way of knowing the Madrid countryside, you will be able to enjoy its gastronomy and its facilities, unique and adapted to your needs, which guarantee you an unforgettable experience.
The fighting bull
The bull of lidia is a unique animal in the world. Its morphology and the special care it receives during its breeding make it exceptional and unique.
Its natural habitat is the pasture, the open field, in which it feeds and acquires its main qualities: bravery, travesty, strength and, especially, nobility. Its gregarious spirit causes it to group in packs. Its origin and setting give it specific characteristics. And finally, their breeding and selection in the different herds determines their behavior and physical condition.
The Community of Madrid has about 111 livestock farms, which are grouped into 73 farms that house more than 12.390 animals. These farms represent more than 6% of the beef cattle farms in the region. The Community of Madrid is the 5th autonomous community with the highest number of livestock farms of this type.
Livestock farming has a deep-rooted tradition in our region, as evidenced by the fact that the bullfight is declared as a Cultural Interest Property, in the category of Cultural Fact.
